For a long time Britain remained the “world’s workshop”, the first industrial country. England was the first country to start large-scale factory production. Many technical inventions of outstanding importance were put into use in England. Having accumulated colossal wealth, Britain became the “world’s banker”.
Today England is one of the leading countries in the world. Its main branches of industry are those working for export; such as chemical, artificial silk, motor-car, electronic equipment, etc. The technical level of these branches is very high.

IV. В течении длительного времени Англия оставалась всемирной мастерской, первой промышленной страной. Англия была первой страной, где началось крупномасштабное строительство фабрик. Наиболее важные технические изобретения впервые начали применяться в Англии. Накопив колоссальное богатство Англия стала мировым (всемирным) банкиром.
V. Сегодня Англия одна из ведущих стран мира. Ее главные отрасли промышленности – это те, которые работают на экспорт, такие как химическая и лёгкая промышленность, моторостроение, электронное оборудование и тому подобное. Технический уровень этих отраслей очень высок.
